School Board Candidate Profile – Ward 10: Dr. John Avard
Dr. John Avard was first elected to the School Board in 2005. His hands on style make him a real asset to the School Board and a go-to leader in the community. Dr. Avard spearheaded the “Coffee with the School Board” series which gives the community access to the School Board and its membership outside of the usual committee setting. The series has allowed additional public dialog in a relaxed community setting. Dr. John Avard is a member of the Building & Sites and Curriculum & Instruction Committee.
In his own words:
Why am I running for School Board? I love this great city and I believe the best way to preserve what we have and to prosper in the future is to ensure that we have the best possible education system for our young people. I am dedicated to making sure that our schools demonstrate excellence in every way, while fulfilling our commitment to the taxpayers to be responsible with their investment dollars.
Biography:
Dr. Avard is a lifelong resident of Ward 10 and a graduate of Manchester public schools. He is the father of 5 school-aged children and a self employed chiropractor.
